ACCESSABILITY COMMITTEE

Accessibilities committees assist A.A. members who have a variety of challenges to accessing the A.A. message in A.A. meetings, Twelve Step work and other A.A. service. The purpose of this special committee is to provide information about AA to alcoholics who have physical disabilities or other special needs. The committee helps coordinate AA meetings for people with special needs. Membership on this committee is open to any interested AA member.

ARCHIVES COMMITTEE

Like any other A.A. service, the primary purpose of those involved in archival work is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous. Archives service work is more than mere custodial activity; it is the means by which we collect, preserve, and share the rich and meaningful heritage of our Fellowship. It is by the collection and sharing of these important historical elements that our collective gratitude for Alcoholics Anonymous is deepened.

If you would like to volunteer, have a request, or have anything to contribute, please contact our archivist, Jay, by email at dist24archives@area36.org

CORRECTIONS COMMITTEE

The purpose of a corrections committee is to coordinate the work of individual A.A. members and groups who are interested in carrying our message of recovery to incarcerated alcoholics. Bringing meetings and literature into facilities, raising awareness of the Corrections Correspondence Service (C.C.S.) among “inside” and “outside” A.A. members, and helping inmates transition to a local A.A. Community through Prerelease contacts are just some of the activities corrections committees support.

Currently there are meeting at the Scott County jail and the Carver County Jail.

Please Contact Dan. our District 24 Corrections Chair, at dist24corrections@area36.org, for additional information and to get involved.

Cooperation with the Professional Community (C.P.C.) Committee

The C.P.C. committee provides information to professionals and future professionals about A.A.— what we are, where we are, what we can do, and what we cannot do. They attempt to establish better communication between A.A.s and professionals, and to find simple, effective ways of cooperating without affiliating.

To request information from or to become involved in this at the district level, please email our CPC Committee Member at Dist24CPC@area36.org.

GRPEVINE COMMITTEE

The Grapevine Committee coordinates the work of individual A.A. members, groups, and districts to read, subscribe to and utilize the Grapevine and Grapevine-produced materials. It also encourages individual A.A. members to contribute written material to the Grapevine for publication.

Contact the Grapevine Chair at Dist24lit@area36.org

LITERATURE COMMITTEE

The Literature Committee provides information to A.A. members and groups encouraging the use of Conference approved literature and maintains an inventory of District literature. If this is something you would like to participate in, please contact the districts Literature Committee member dist24literature@area36.org

The very large list of all orderable A.A. Literature, 46 pages, is available from the Alcoholics Anonymous main web site and is a PDF from this link here.

PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE

The primary purpose of the Public Information Committee is to carry the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Working together, members of local Public Information committees convey A.A. information to the general public through activities such as giving A.A. information talks at schools and civic organization meetings, providing A.A. literature to schools and offices, and insuring local media have accurate information and providing them with A.A. public service announcements.

To request information from or get involved in our districts Public Information Committee activities please contact our Public Information Committee Member at dist24publicinformation@area36.org.

TREATMENT FACILITIES COMMITTEE

While A.A. is not affiliated with any form of alcoholism treatment, A.A. Treatment committees are essential in carrying the A.A. message into treatment settings where the suffering alcoholic may be introduced to A.A. for the first time. According to the A.A. 2014 Membership Survey, 74% of our members cited treatment or counseling as an important part of their journey to A.A. The local Bridging the Gap program, or BTG, connects the new member being discharged from a facility to A.A. in their community.

To volunteer to “Bridge the Gap” or to request information about our District 24 BTG activities, please contact our Treatment Committee member by email at dist24treatment@area36.org
